SIMON BERRY
Coaching has been my default style for as long as I can remember. From working as a tennis coach in my teens, to selling large computer systems, to managing salespeople, to leading major transformations in my role as Director of NCR and for the past twenty-five years as a coach and consultant.
Of course, it’s important to direct and teach at times, but coaching is the only style I have seen that consistently helps people achieve the ultimate trilogy of developing themselves and their abilities, improving their results and reducing stress and overload to enjoy work and life more.
Organisations I have worked with include Specsavers, Intel, Dentsu, Clifford Chance, NHS, HSBC, Cobham, RAF as well as over 1000 individual leaders.
I have seen over and again that my high-potential and senior management clients have all the skills and knowledge they need for even greater success AND to really enjoy the process of doing so, but something gets in the way. They may be over-invested in the outcome, concerned that they are doing it ‘right’, trying to be what they think (or others think) they should be, trying too hard and so on. It is the ‘noise’ of this over-thinking that stops them focusing on what really matters and then cracking on with it, with energy to spare.
Common client feedback I get is: achieving more with less effort, greater enjoyment of work, better relationships, less stress, feeling more authentic, freedom to develop my own style, more comfortable in my own skin, trusting my own intuition.
